Any version of iTunes 9 til 9.1.1 will work.

Step One
Download the Spirit Jailbreak from here and save it to your desktop. 
 Step Two
Double click the Spirit application on your desktop to launch it

 *Important: If you have Windows 7 you may need to run Spirit in compatibility mode for Windows 98. Before launching right click Spirit.exe and select Properties from the contextual menu. Then from the Compatibility tab select Windows 98 from the Compatibility Mode dropdown. Click Apply then Ok


Step Three
Connect your iPhone and press the Jailbreak button.
  Step Five
The Spirit app will then let you know the jailbreak is complete.
 Your iPhone will reboot and show you progress indicator. Once this finishes your iPhone will be jailbroken with Cydia installed!

Spirit and iTunes issue Fix

Some Windows users have an issue with the jailbreak tool Spirit and iTunes 9.1.
Kirma, autor of the fix for Blackra1n and iTunes 9.1, offers us a fix to execute Spirit without any errors!

I wanted to warn you because Apple will soon release an update of his Firmware 3.1.3 to block the exploit found by Comex and then if you have an update in iTunes, KEEP AWAY FROM IT !! If not, you will lose your jailbreak freshly released...

As you know, Spirit was released and now you can jailbreak your new iPad with FW 3.2 or your iPhone 3G/3GS with FW 3.1.2/3.1.3. One major inconvenience is that, most Cydia apps are not iPad compatible yet.
